What is your experience?
As well as private practice, I work as a counsellor in the education sector.
Prior to working within counselling I worked as a health coach specialising in disordered eating patterns including food addictions and health recovery.
I have worked with students with specific learning differences and Emotional Behavioural Difficulties.
Other experience includes GP and IAPT referrals as well as counselling within the NHS and in the education sector including university, college, primary and secondary school students.
I hold diplomas in Psychodynamic Counselling, Counselling Supervision and Integrative Therapeutic Counselling.
How do I make an appointment?

Is it confidential?
Information kept about clients is kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will not be disclosed to third parties. The content of your appointments are completely confidential.
Do you accept referrals?
Yes I accept self referrals as well as GP, IAPT and insurance referrals; however my contract is with the client who will be directly responsible for payment, with receipts available to arrange reimbursement from your insurance company or private healthcare provider.
How many appointments will I need?
This is ultimately your decision, apart from single session therapy this is usually 6 or more sessions. People suffering with more serious health problems such as eating disorders or severe depression are more suitable for long-term psychotherapy.
What happens in the first session?
We will discuss your requirements, presenting problems and goals. You may have more questions to ask about therapy or the way I work. This also gives you the chance to see what a counselling session is like if it is new to you. The counselling agreement will be explained to you however you are under no pressure to commit to further sessions. If there is any reason I feel we cannot work together I may offer you the details of an associate or specialist agency. You will also be assessing me to decide if you can work with me.
What will happen in a session?
The direction of a session is led by you but we won’t have the normal conversations that you have with friends or family, we will be focussing on you and the issues that have brought you to therapy. This ensures that we are not distracted from the main work, which is about you and the ways in which you experience your world.
Will you tell me what to do?
No, people usually already have the answers they want within themselves, therapy time may provide the space and time to discover those answers and explore the available options in a confidential non-judgemental environment.
Cancellations. What if I have booked a holiday?
A minimum of 7 days notice is needed to cancel or rearrange. Late cancellation fees are payable as follows: 0-48 hours’ notice – full session fee payable. Over 48 hours - 7 days notice – 50% of session fee is payable to retain your slot.
Please give at least 7 days notice of a planned commitment like a holiday or other break. Multiple holidays within longer term therapy require a holding fee which may charged at the full rate if you want to retain your appointed slot.
How do I pay?
Payment is usually in advance via bank transfer, cash or cheque. For fees see Contact
I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I adhere to their code of ethics which can be found on their website www.bacp.co.uk
